Group F always looked like a fight between France and Brazil for the top spot, with both Jamaica and Panama seen as the two outsiders. However, Jamaica threw a spanner in the works early on, by grinding out a 0-0 draw against France in their opener. That allowed Brazil to storm out in front as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Panama, putting them top of Group F early on. The two heavyweights face off in their second game, where France are hoping to get their World Cup campaign back on track.

Despite being one of the favorites to win the World Cup in August, Les Bleues are yet to start their competition with a victory. They may have deserved to win after being held to a scoreless stalemate by Jamaica the previous time around, but they made poor closing decisions.
With one point and a second-place group standing, France will be aiming to win their first match of the competition this weekend. France dominated their first-round match against Jamaica, however, they were unable to get three points. One of the biggest shocks of the World Cup thus far was that draw, and it might cost France dearly.
With that said, a victory versus Brazil would put France in the driver’s seat, and even if they lose, they would likely still have a chance to advance with a victory in the last round.
Brazil had a wonderful tournament debut with a 4-0 victory over Panama, and they now find themselves in a strong position going into the next two group-stage games. As long as they defeat Jamaica in the final round or maybe even just avoid a loss, they will go to the knockout stage regardless of whether they defeat France or draw.
Brazil, meanwhile, defeated Panama Women 4-0 in their Sunday group matchup opening. The South Americans were easily dispatched. Ary Borges, 23, delivered a brilliant outing for the Seleço, scoring three goals and dishing out one assist.
With three points, the Seleço leads Group F and will aim to increase that total on Saturday.
Verdict
After winning six of their previous seven games, France has lost their last two games. They were unable to earn all possible points in their first game due to their inability to capitalize on their opportunities, and they will be hoping to avoid a reoccurrence this weekend.
Brazil, on the other side, has won its last three games after dropping their previous four. They should win because they are in much better shape than their competitors.
